The following are some useful tips that can help you avert moth invasion into your home and belongings;
- Brush cloths made of wool or fur immediately you get home: Moth eggs easily infiltrate the closet by fixing themselves onto wool and fur. Scrapping them off keeps any moth larvae getting into your home.
- Wash your clothes and belonging before storing for long periods: Dry your clothes in sunlight. It will help rinse ad kill out eggs or larvae make them unable to grow to maturity during storage.
- Use airtight containers for storage: Tightly sealed chests, plastic containers, sealed suitcases, or anything similar will keep the moths away. Avoid leaving any woolen materials or suits exposed in the air. If you do not plan to wear them for a long time, you can put then in a zipped, airtight garment bag in a sealed container.
- Keep storage areas dry: Moths multiply faster in moist, humid areas. Avoid storing clothes and other items in the garage, basements, or areas that are exposed to weather changes. It is advisable to use an indoor closet, room, or the attic.
